How To Become A Great Barber?
To be able to define something between simple and hard is not an easy task.
Being a Barber is not hard, but being a good Barber can take years to achieve a profitable working routine.
Like with anything in life, it takes work, it takes research, and it takes a strong mind to stay focused and diligent.
In this career, barbers make as much money as they want to make.
Meaning, this industry doesn’t have limits on the income of the barber.
Anyone can do the bare minimum in any working field, but if you want to leave a legacy and a substantial profit in this business learning all of the aspects of barbering will take effort.
As I said, it takes work learning how to market yourself through social media, and the value of becoming an entrepreneur.
Ways To Grow As A Barber:
Barbering is an ever-growing industry, If you want to make your mark in the world of barbering, here are a few examples you can use to gain more traction in your hair cutting profession:
- Market yourself ( Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, etc.).
- Working additional hours.
- Finding clients anywhere and everywhere you go.
- Create a Brand/Name for yourself.
- Going the extra mile for your clients.
- Looking into new products/technologies
- Always pushing to learn form & Technique.
Applying these tips will separate you from the average barber just in it for the quick cash-in-hand workflow.
As opposed to becoming a force that will generate returning clients that pay more for your services.
Unfortunately for the barbers that lack determination because they are missing out on all the great opportunities our modern society has to offer.
“Barbering can put a person on the map if they have the will and the stamina for it.
It takes a lot of time and it takes patience.” – Cyclops Brand
Things A Barber Must Know:
1. You will have to learn every type of haircut and style to be a well-rounded barber.
2. Learning to read body language and paying close attention to your client’s behaviors is a MUST.
3. Knowing when to speak and when to just “cut hair” without engaging in conversation.
Not everyone comes to a barbershop to chat, some clients come to relax and clear their heads.
4. Being a barber isn’t for the faint of heart, you will fail, and you will gain.
Always remain humble no matter the outcome.
5. Although you are Self-Employed, you still have to follow a shop schedule and respect the owner for giving you a place to continue your barbering services.
6. Nobody will be around to hold your hand.
You must develop the time-management skills to keep your barber services running smoothly with your clientele.
7. Learn your barber tools and supplies very well, although the industry-level barber brands are made to be workhorses.
Running into a snag along the way happens more often than you may think.
Being able to take apart your tools and find the problem is a valuable skill to have.
Doing this will develop the confidence to fix problematic situations efficiently.
8. You will never be able to please every client, learn to keep your self-esteem high and trust in your craft and value.
Take time to research the issues you’re having trouble with and start applying them to avoid any further altercations later down the road.
Conclusion:
Is Barbering Hard? no. Barbering isn’t hard if you planning on putting in the time and effort it takes to create a name for yourself.
Although standing for long periods of time can be taxing on your body.
The profits you can make by marketing your haircut portfolio and using the advantages of social media can boost your traffic and build a clientele base quickly.
Barbering does take a while to master every aspect, but the rewards are highly satisfying in the end!
